RESEARCH PAPER REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS

Papers will be at least 3 pages in length (double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman or Arial only, margins 1 ˝ inches).

The paper will be fully and properly documented according to the style taught and discussed in class.

A minimum of five different resources will be used; at least one will be an internet source.

No more than three direct quotes are to be included in the paper. Use quotes only when necessary to accentuate a point.

The paper will consist of the following sequential steps:

Deciding the city you will base your paper on. Be sure to choose one that is interesting to you. It must have a population over 200,000 and it cannot be a city you have already visited.

Creating a working bibliography (bibliography cards)

Taking notes, creating note cards

Drafting an outline

Writing a rough draft of your paper with documentation and Works Cited page

Editing and revising your rough draft

Writing and typing your final draft with documentation and Works Cited page. All papers must be typed at school—May 3, 4, 5, and 6—slow typists may need to work in the library before or after school.

Creating an interesting title page (with graphics) for your finished product.

The following items will be included with your final paper:

Title page

Final paper with parenthetical documentation

Works Cited page

Recent history article from an online database

Map of city

Note cards, outline, rough draft

Note cards and bibliography cards: Friday, May 22 (30 pts.)

Final draft with documentation and works cited page:
