Criminology Syllabus
The
Law:
This criminology course introduces students to the practice
of criminology as well as theories of crime causation, social and cultural
reasons for causation, method and measurement, etiology, types of crime,
consequences, prevention, control, and treatment of crime and delinquency in a
multidisciplinary setting. The Sentence: Personal Recognizance: Homework will be given every week. You are responsible to learn
the information on your homework assignments and retain the information you are
presented. Every Friday you will be given a quiz from the information in your
homework and class assignments. This quiz will be worth at least 30 points each
week. There will be 10 quizzes over the course of this class. Make up quizzes
must be taken on the day you return from the absence. You are responsible
to see that this happens. Projects will be given periodically. Late projects will not
be accepted. At least one of these will be a group project. You will be graded
on your participation in the project as well as the final presentation. Grades will assessed as follows.
Quizzes: 40%
Projects: 30%
Tests: 30%
Grading Scale is as follows.
100%-94%=A 76%-74%=C
93%-90%=A- 73%-70%=C-
89%-87%=B+ 69%-67%=D+
86%-84%=B 66%-64%=D
83%-80%=B- 63%-60%=D-
79%-77%=C+ 59%-0%=E
Probation:
Students are fully responsible for their own classroom conduct and will be expected to act like responsible citizens of the classroom community and follow classroom rules. Every student will begin the trimester with 60 classroom conduct points. (This will become part of your Quiz grade.) Points will be lost at 5 point intervals for excessive rudeness, excessive and constant disruption, tardiness, or an uncooperative attitude. Ten points will be deducted every time a student has to be asked to leave the classroom.
