Literature Connections is a twelve-week, elective class open to 9th-12th graders. Students will read at least 1200 pages (preferably six novels) during the trimester.

Students may choose from a variety of texts that connect to past and future readings. For example, those who read and enjoyed The Great Gatsby may choose other novels by F. Scott Fitzgerald, or further readings about The Roaring 20’s, authors from the same era ( like Ernest Hemingway) stories that take place on Long Island, novels about the decadence of the extremely wealthy……..the possibilities are endless.

Projects are due every two weeks. They require students to interact with the text, prove their understanding of it, and apply prior knowledge to new learning.

The purpose of this class is to take advantage of the time given to read for pleasure while broadening horizons and becoming a well-rounded student who interacts with the text to gain a deeper understanding.
