CLASS FORMAT:

Classes will consist of, but not be limited to, lectures, labs, demonstrations, drawings, and research. Filmstrips and movies will be shown when appropriate.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

You are responsible for everything covered in class, even if you are absent!!! You are to bring your textbook, pen or pencil, and paper to class everyday.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Homework is due at the beginning of each class period. Late work will only be accepted up until the chapter test is given for that work, but all late work grades will be lowered 50% You can access my website to find out your daily assignments.

MAKE-UP WORK:

All assignments that are due or were due while you are absent are due the day you return to class. Make-up work will be counted when your absence is excused.

You will be given one day for each day missed.
Tests and quizzes are made up before school within 2 days of your return to school.
Special arrangements must be made for long term absences.

CHEATING:

Coping another student’s homework or assignments is cheating. Students caught cheating will receive a zero for that work. The second offense may result in loss of credit for the class.

ATTENDANCE AND BEHAVIOR:

You are expected to attend each day and be on time (in your seat). Make sure you follow the school’s student handbook. You are expected to know and use reasonable judgment in knowing what is appropriate behavior. Best behavior is expected for a substitute. Any name left by the sub as a problem, the student will spend one hour in detention.

CONSEQUENCES FOR MISCONDUCT OR IMPROPER BEHAVIOR:

Behavior correcting, verbal warnings, detention, call home, removal from class, students are not to return to class until the problem has been resolved.

HOMEWORK AND READING:

You should expect some reading and homework almost every night. All assignments are to be written out completely. Notebooks and folders will be checked every semester for organization, thoroughness, and neatness.

I cannot stress how important it is for you to put a good effort into every assignment. In particular, you must read each lesson before attempting the homework problems.

TESTS AND QUIZZES:

You should expect weekly quizzes (1-2 per week) from the day’s homework, lab activities, and vocabulary. You should expect a full period test at the end of each chapter and unit.

YOUR GRADE:

Tests and Quizzes will count for roughly 50% of the grade and other activities and notebook will cover the other 50%. All grades in are on a point system. The points will then be converted to a percentage:

      A   100-94  C-   73-70

      A-  93-90  D+  69-67

      B+ 89-87   D    66-64

      B   86-84  D-   63-60

      B-  83-80   F     59-0

      C+ 79-77

      C   76-74

IMPORTANT:

If you miss class the day before a test/quiz, you will still be expected to take the test/quiz with the rest of the class.

GOOD LUCK, I LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU IN CLASS THIS YEAR.
